Ancestral Quest System Requirements
- Microsoft® Windows
- Ancestral Quest and Ancestral Quest Basics version 12.x require Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows 2000.
Note: The PDF-generating software that AQ installs and uses will work on 32-bit Windows, only. If you have 64-bit Windows, please see the details on printing to PDF files on this page of our website. - Older versions of Ancestral Quest (3-11) will run on Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows 98, and Windows 95. These older versions will run on Windows 7 and Windows Vista, but you won't be able to view the Help files until you download the supplemental WinHelp program. You may download this update for Windows 7, or this update for Windows Vista from Microsoft.
- Ancestral Quest is not available as a native Macintosh program at the present time. See the FAQs page for more information.
- EGA or higher resolution display (VGA Recommended)
- Mouse or compatible pointing device
- 8 MB RAM
- 40.0 MB hard disk space
- CD-ROM drive for installation (if obtaining the program on CD)
- Optional, for enhanced multimedia capabilities:

- Sound card, speakers, microphone
- Video capture board, Firewire, or another means to import video
- Optional, for NetFam™ Collaboration:
- an additional 40.0 MB hard disk space
- an Internet connection
- support drivers for ODBC, MDAC and SQL (Available from this web site, if not pre-installed on your computer.)
