Ancestral Quest-Find My Past Update for January 2022

For those of you that use Ancestral Quest's hinting tools, here is an update on an important issue.
We became aware of an issue, today, that is causing a window to pop up about an HTTP 404 Error. It is erroneously being identified as an issue with FamilySearch, but it actually is an error with FindMyPast.
We are reaching out FindMyPast to see whether they can correct this on their side, or whether we would need to make a change to Ancestral Quest.
There are two ways to get around these errors, for now, until a resolve is reached:
- If you regularly use the hinting for FamilySearch and the advanced Searches of the Tree Tips icon, you can turn off just the hinting for FindMyPast:
- While on either the Pedigree or Family view of AQ, point your mouse to the TreeTips icon (the magnifying glass on a globe) to the right of any name on the screen (although a name on the far left of the screen works best).
- The TreeTips window should appear, along with the error message.
- Once the TreeTips window appears, you can ignore the errors, and within the treetips window, beneath the FindMyPast heading, click the Disable button.
- The TreeTips for just FindMyPast will now be turned off, and you will no longer see those error messages.
- You can then click OK to close each of the error windows that had opened.
- If you do not regularly use any of the hinting tools or the advanced Searches of the Tree Tips icon, you can comnpletely turn off the TreeTips hinting icon:
- Go up to the menu bar in Ancestral Quest and click on View
- At the bottom of the menu, you will see TreeTips Research Assistance with a checkmark indicating that the TreeTips are currently turned on. Just click on TreeTips Research Assistance to remove the checkmark.
- All of the TreeTips will now be turned off, and you will no longer see those error messages.
Once we have a resolve, we will update this notice with the latest information.
