IGI Children’s Guide using PAFWiz and PAF 5
Remember: You should be already connected to the Internet and have already signed onto the famiysearch.org website. To review these steps, go back to the Individual Search Guide
Step 1) Click on PAFWiz in the lower right hand corner of the screen. If you have both a primary Name and a Spouse name, it is very easy to see if their children are also listed in the IGI. In this screen, under “Search For” just check “Children” instead of “Marriage” and click on “Search IGI”.

Step 2) This will bring you right into the “Search Results” so that you can check the information against your own PAF family files. For the purpose of this guide, you would update # 2, John Banks, as there are no ordinances listed for him. To locate “John Banks” in your PAF family file, click on the “Close” button in the “familysearch.org” screen.

Step 3) Next you will need to click on the “Close” button on the “Edit Individual” Screen.

Step 4) This will bring you back to your individual in PAFWiz screen where you will be able to match up your search results and your family file information. Since you have found a whole family it will be necessary to go into your PAF family file and add this new information. As stated earlier, we will update # 4 listed on the IGI screen, John Banks. Make note of the RIN # 204 so that you can locate this individual in your PAF program. Click on the (1) Binoculars with the # sign in your PAF program, (2) enter in the RIN # and (3) click on the “OK” button.

Step 5) Double click the highlighted individual in PAF so you can update the file by opening up the “Edit Individual” screen.

Step 6) With the “Edit Individual” Screen open, put the cursor in the title bar “Edit Individual”, holding the left mouse button down and move this screen to the right so that you can still see the results of the Ordinance Record.

Step 7) Click “Save” to save the changes to your family files.

Congratulations! You have just completed your first IGI Children’s update.
To continue updating this whole family of children, double click another child in your PAF family file, to bring up the “Edit Individual” screen. Then double click that same child in the “familysearch.org” screen. Now go back to # 5 to see how you update this individual’s information.
Step 8) To conduct a different search for other children, click on PAFWiz in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

Choose another marriage and go back to # 1 to repeat these steps.
